Long Time, No Type!

Hello friends! I am really quite awful at keeping this updated. My apologies. I'll try to get better at it. I haven't been too terribly busy stitching, but I do have some projects to show off here.

Birthday present for my mother :o)

Those two were created for a couple ladies I know who are battling cancer. The purple one is for one fighting lung cancer and the pink is for on fighting breast cancer. Purple is the general cancer awareness color, but lung cancer is "pearl" and that design wouldn't do well with that color.

My family has this thing for reciting movie lines all the time. Well, we particularly love Brad Pitt's line from the end of "Se7en" and it goes so well with Mario and his ? boxes :o)

Sprite Stitch August Challenge "Back to School"

Inspired by the motivational posters reading, "Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars." This is the first time I've made an entry for one of the challenges that wasn't a swap. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it just yet, though...

Christmas Presents

I decided to get an early start on my Christmas gifts this year. This pattern is from a kit my parents bought years ago to make one for each of their kids. I've got some friends I think will appreciate these, so I've made several up (some with little pink feet) and all I need to do is add the names and dates to them. I don't care for the font the kit included, so I've been playing around with other fonts to see what I like best. After Christmas, I'll be sure to post some updated pictures with names/dates on them (pending permission from parents, of course) so you can see what I chose to do with my fonts.

That's all the photos I have for now. I did find an old kit I had started about 10 years ago for a friend of my mom and I've been doing a tiny bit of work on that in between other projects. I also made a wedding gift for the mother of a friend who got remarried this past weekend. Like a dummy, though, I forgot to take a picture before wrapping and giving it to her. Next time I see her, I'll see if I can snap a quick photo and put it up here.

I've signed up for another swap for September/October on the Sprite Stitch forums and I got my swappie info today. I've already made a couple of the patterns and am working on a third one, but I think I need to stop by Michael's for a couple of things before I can get started. Needles being one of those things. I seem to keep losing and/or breaking all my favorite ones, so I need to stock up.

Well, I think that's it. I hope it won't be another 7 months before my next update, but I can't promise anything. Until next time...

...Because I'm kind of a Grinch. The season does make for some craftiness on my part! I'm still in the process of one, but time crept up on me and it's for a family member, so I'm pretty sure he'll be happy whenever he gets it. I did get a few quick projects done for a "gift-it-forward" I participated in. Nothing too impressive, but fun and adorable nonetheless.

Short Post

Just wanted to post really quickly about that kit that took me FOREVER to do...I finally got it finished and sent it on it's way where it is to be loved forever and ever...about two weeks ago. October was a month full of frustration. My husband and I ended up moving into a new apartment because our old ones weren't doing maintenance and then we lost our jobs and blah blah blah. So, here is a picture of the finished (but not framed) project:

Very cute and she was VERY happy when it was done. I didn't get to take a picture of it framed and all because she wanted the personalization left out. In the bottom part of the bamboo frame, the name, birth date, and weight are backstitched and it looked great once it was all done. You'll just have to take my word for it. Like I said, short post, because I've got a Christmas present for my brother-in-law that is already two days overdue that is less than halfway finished. Until next time...

More September Swap

I now know that the recipient of my September Swap Surprise has received it, so...for your viewing pleasure, I give you pictures!

The first is a set of the Medallions (Quake, Ether, and Bombos) from The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. Being a game that both my swap partner and I shared, it was easy for me to pick what I was going to do. This game is really hard to define exactly what the most important item is (aside from the sword and shield, of course), but I really like the medallions, so I picked those.

Next, from Super Mario World, I made a red Yoshi's Egg pin. Another game my swap partner and I shared and Yoshi is one of my favorite Nintendo characters, period. Yoshi himself would have been too flimsy for a pin, so that's what made me decide upon the egg instead. I was a little sad that I had to send this off, actually. It turned out so cute...I'll be making myself one, soon :o)

Well, that's pretty much it for this update. I need to get that kit finished before the end of October so the lady I'm doing it for can get it framed for her grandson. There won't be much work in the land of cross-stitch and video games until that's done. Until next time...

New Name

As you'll notice my blog is no longer titled "Stitch Bitch." Apparently, someone else already had that name and has been using it for 7 years and requested (although very rudely) that I change my blog's name...so I did. Happy now? Nothing stitch related to report, really. Until next time...

September Swap!

I received my Sprite Stitch September Swap gift from non other than Stardrifter! It's kind of funny putting this on here when I've only got three followers and one of them happens to be her. Anyway...I thought I'd go ahead and post pictures up here!

SMB Big Mushroom Keychain

As you can see, in the middle of all that madness is the Super Mario Bros. big mushroom keychain she made me. It's stitched on both sides, so it looks nice no matter how you look at it, and it's super cute, obviously.

TLOZ Link with Triforce Magnet

She also made me a kick-ass magnet of Link with a Triforce from Legend of Zelda:A Link to the Past. I'm glad that both swap partners I've had have been incredibly awesome and sent me some wonderful gifts. Sprite Stitch is full of good people and I plan to do every swap that I have time for. I have yet to finish my project to send off, but I'll definitely be done with it and have it sent out by Monday. I'll post pictures of it on here once I know the recipient has received it. I don't want to spoil in case that person should happen upon my blog and see it. Once I'm done with that, I need to get back on that kit I've been working on FOREVER and get it done. I think I've put a bit too much on my plate this time. I'm supposed to be working on a kit for someone, doing the Sprite Stitch Mini-swap for September, and I have about a thousand other unfinished projects that I've started, PLUS, I'm planning on making ornaments for my family for Christmas because, well...I'm a broke ho and making ornaments will be really cheap. Good news is, that kit is about half-way finished and I don't really need to be done with it until the end of October, and the swap is only until the end of September, so that frees up all of November to work on the ornaments. Sheesh! I got all my pattern work done for the swap and all the supplies purchased, so all I need to do is get started! Maybe I'll do that instead of posting on here? Toodles!

As Promised...

...pictures! These first two were made as part of a craft swap we did on Sprite Stitch. We filled out a survey, got swapped around, then had to make item(s) for our person within a three month time span. I got a person who I shared no common interest in gaming with, so it was a little more work than I had originally anticipated. Also, the memo board was done on plastic canvas instead of regular Aida cloth, and since it was my first time using it, it was a bitch to make. I said I would probably never use it again, but I have for a couple smaller projects, which you will see here in a moment.

These next couple of photos were for the same craft swap, but because some people were lame and didn't send out gifts, it was up to a few of the rest of us to make small gifts to pass along to make up for their partners flaking out on them.

A quilt of Link (from the Zelda games) with the Tri-Force.

Pretty frickin' awesome. I squealed like a little girl when I opened it. The Zelda games have been my favorites since I was really young. It's one of the very few things my mother and I have in common.

Recently, my husband asked me to make him a bookmark that he couldn't eat. He has this thing about eating the corners of paper bookmarks, so...I decided I'd try to make some of his favorite game characters, who are not in 8-bit format, all on one bookmark. It's not finished, yet, but here's my work-in-progress.

I haven't quite figured out how to make Snake not look like Hippie Mario/Ninja Hitler...I need to get a goatee/beard put on him, but I haven't worked it out where it looks good, yet. I'll be sure to update you.

In closing, I leave you with my drunk stitchings. I was bored, a little tipsy, and my cross-stitch stuff caught my eye. They are nothing impressive, but they are cute. Enjoy!

I'm not much for the blog scene because, frankly, my life really isn't all that interesting. I've taken the idea from some fellow Sprite Stitchers and decided to make a blog about my cross-stitching projects so I can showcase them. That's all I really have to say for now.
